I teach many Year 6 children and I am used to breaking down the requirements for Year 6 SATs.
There is certainly a lot to get your head around!
If you need SATs help for your Year 6 child, read on!
I can support your child with their spellings and although I do not have a crystal ball to tell me what will be coming up in May, there are patterns that are often tested and general concepts that do come up (eg. homophones and silent letters). We will look at these in a structured way and practise them from week to week.
Grammar-wise I will help you get to grips with the various terms and concepts that need to be learnt - the tenses, the parts of speech, and the bits in between.
We can go over punctuation such as the use of speech marks, apostrophes, semi-colons and colons.
We can do some reading comprehensions in the lesson - reading texts and answering questions.
Ah, the fun we will have ;-)
Another alternative is to do a crash course in the Easter holidays. I am often around over Easter - give me some notice and I'm sure we can squeeze something in.
Year 6 SATs is usually the 2nd or 3rd week of May so an Easter holiday boost makes sense.
Do get in touch if you'd like to help your child prepare for Year 6 SATs English.
